Originally from the west of France, the Folle Blanche grape is likely native to the Charentes. It has certainly been grown here since before the first recorder distillation here in 1630. For two and a half centuries, it was “the” grape variety intended for distillation, contributing enormously to the reputation of French eaux-de-vie, cognac, and armagnac. After the phylloxera crisis, the grape of choice in the region became the Ugni Blanc.
We have since replanted 1ha20a of Folle Blanche, which we harvest, vinify and distill separately. Every year we produce between 4 and 5 casks of 100% organic Folle Blanche Grande Champagne eau-de-vie.
