Born in 1931 on the family vineyard, Arlette Pinaud was the only daughter of Henriette and Alphée Pinaud. She grew up in Lagarde-sur-le-Né, surrounded by cousins of roughly the same age. When war broke out again, her father fought but was captured and spent 1940-45 as a POW, working various jobs and learning many trades in Germany. He marched 200 km home to find a wife and daughter still joyful despite the traumas of war.
During this period, Arlette aided her mother and maternal grandfather on the estate that would later become hers. At one of her many cousins' weddings, she met Guy Noblet, son of a vintner from Foussignac in Fins Bois. They hit it off immediately and charted their own destiny, marrying in 1956. They united their estates as well, covering three crus: Petite Champagne with Lagarde-sur-le-Né, Fins Bois with Foussignac, and Grande Champagne with Mainxe. They became professional distillers, adding two 25-hectoliter pot stills to their two existing 20-hectoliter stills in 1971. This cognac, distilled the year before, was born of one of the 20-hectoliter stills.
